The Office of the Assistant Secretary for the Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released a pamphlet entitled “A Parent’s Guide to Choosing Safe and Healthy Child Care.”  This guide, funded by the ASPE and prepared through a collaboration between ASPE and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau in the Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care at the University of Colorado, is a consumer education tool for parents who are selecting child care programs for their children.  This brief guide translates research information and offers specific “yes or no” questions that parents can ask child care directors and teachers.  The guide can also be used by local programs for consumer education and as a tool for child care providers for self-monitoring.
